Here are the final details for the weeklong. I am greatly looking forward to seeing everyone and playing T'ai Chi together. You can call me anytime on the mobile number at my main website regarding any travel, payment, food, or general queries about the week. Reception and lessons permitting, I will be available each day from 9am -12 midnight. There have been a few queries so far, which I hope to tackle below.
Course Payment: Fees are due any time during the week. I will take a register daily and you can pay in cash or by UK cheque. The cost is £30 per day, (£15 for each session). There is a concession Of £20 per day available to all those who feel they cannot afford this, there are no automatic concession entitlements due to age, studying, retirement or benefits-type criteria, just inform Mark if you need to pay less. You are also welcome to pay something in between those two amounts if that reflects your circumstances better. Again, just let Mark know.
Food: A selection of food is brought by students daily and we have always managed to cover vegetarian and non-veg needs easily. There are also vegan and milk / wheat free students this year, so we will reflect this in our recipes too. The general plan is this: on the Saturday let's all bring a little something to get things started, this includes travelling students, as hopefully they will have been able to go shopping when they arrive. At break on Saturday we'll get a feel of how many we are, and I will divide us equally up into 3 'household' groups, including the B&B-ers, and call these A, B, and C. A will bring food Sunday and Wednesday, B will do Monday and Thursday and C will do Tuesday and Friday. We want to make sure that the local students don't have to cook every day and that visiting students can get together with their other group members to get shopping arranged, or give money towards dishes, etc. These small arrangements should be all we'll need to cover the issue of our larger numbers, as each group can more easily have a little conflab about who brings what and when. Of course there is the option of a full-on rota, but we have always dowsed our way very nicely, and this reflects our approach of as little admin interference as possible! If you have a favourite tea, coffee, sweetener, juice or whatever, bring it along at the start, too.
Travel: Hopefully everyone's travel is sorted by now. Travelling students- contact your host student re buses, trains, lifts or taxis to the class or host's home. I can help with general travel info too. For those staying at B&Bs or at the hall, on Saturday ask a local student from your A, B or C group if you could give them some cash to get some shopping, and for hall stayers, maybe they could provide the odd shower or a towel... Let me know if I can help.
Accommodation costs: We ask guests to give £5 per night to their hosts to cover bed and breakfast. For lunch and shared evening meals, just arrange with your host re sharing costs, shopping and cooking. Staying in the hall costs £3 a night to cover electricity. Pay me anytime or with the week's fees.
Class times, etc: Friday Ta Lu 6.30- 9.30pm. Workshop Saturday til Friday 2-5pm & 6.30-9.30pm. If regular students have work or commitments they can come to just one session in the day. Less experienced students of the Scottish instructors are more than welcome on the weekend, and can get in touch with their instructor or myself re eligibility for the rest of the week. Bring weapons along for informal sword, sabre and staff sessions. They can be left at the hall. Duncan will be happy to carry on with the staff form.
Anything else: If there is anything else I can help with, or haven't covered, please call. If you need to get hold of Mark, call him rather than email. I look forward to seeing folks on Friday for Ta Lu, Saturday for the workshop, and for some of you, Sunday or Monday, whenever you can join in. Love and best wishes, Caro.
