New Back Heart Salutations videos from Mark
Yesterday we recorded 3 new clips for you of the back Heart Salutation. You'll find them in the Dropbox. If you can't see them, then you have the wrong link, just email me for the up to date one. The first clip describes some background, the second has a narration while doing the movement, the third is 4 times through the postures, without narration. We filmed in the T'ai Chi studio here, and we'll be doing a few more over the coming days.
Once Mark has got used to this set up, we'll attempt to get lessons happening too. Enjoy the clips, even if you know the Heartwork really well, have a look, the intro alone will make you smile...

Heartwork session this weekend at Hampton Court

Thursday sessions at Monymusk
There is no Thursday session this week as the hall is being used as a polling station. Next week, 19th December, is the last session of the year and we're in the small hall 6:30-9:30pm as the bowlers will be in the main hall.
We'll restart in the New Year on 9th January which is also a bowling night, so we'll be in the small hall again and then back to the usual rooms on the 16th.

UPDATE 5 Sep: Friday will be weapons practice, sharing hall cost; Saturday afternoon meet-up at Anneke's; no Sunday sessions. Click here for info.
The next workshops with Caroline in Aberdeenshire are this weekend, 6-8th September. The Weapons session is at Fetternear Hall, all other workshops are at Balvack. Great River students of any level are particularly welcome to the Saturday sessions.
Friday 6:30-9:30pm: Weapons
Saturday 1-4pm: Short Form, and related study
Saturday 5:30-8:30pm: Partnerwork
Sunday 1-4pm: Long Form
Sunday 5.30-8.30pm: Advanced Studies and Dance
The price is £18 (concessions £12) per 3 hr session. Please bring food to share on Saturday and Sunday. Get in touch with your instructor if you need travel directions or feel free to contact me with any other question.

T'ai Chi this summer
Mark's classes continue weekly June and July until Thursday 18th July. Classes resume 10th September (TBC).
The Summer workshop runs at Kingston again from 20th-26th, all the details are here on the blog on the sidebar. get in touch if you need any more help to be able to come along.
Caroline's Tooting Wednesday morning classes continue until 31st July, pause for August, and resume on 4th September.
There are no planned weapons workshops so far, but we hope to resume in the autumn. Heartwork Sunday workshops are ongoing, next one 23rd June at HC studio, all welcome.

Things
Heart Work with Mark runs today at the HC studio 2-5pm. All welcome.
I am still ill with colds and flu, and have not been able to come to classes, as well as having to cancel some teaching. I have missed seeing everyone as well as missing the T'ai Chi. Hope to be back to class Tuesday evening. I won't be at class today as I am still coughing a great deal. So I will stay in and mend things.
My friend Navjyoat Chhina writes a great blog about home-schooling her kids, and the latest post is about haptic perception. I still haven't written my post on that for here yet. We were both inspired, or rather depressed, by the news last month that surgeons are finding new students don't have the requisite hand-eye coordination needed to study surgery. The cause appears to be that they didn't have hand craft hobbies as kids, but spent time looking at screens. Too many frictionless surfaces are making us de-evolve!

Mark's class news
Weapons study is next week on Tuesday as usual, first session of each month.
Heart Work session is at the HC studio Sunday 16th December, 2-5pm, £20. All regular students are welcome. That will be the last workshop of the year. I will post the 2019 session dates here as soon as we know them.
The calendars should get sorted on Sunday, I hope they'll arrive in time for Xmas, but it may be 1st class of the New Year. Not sure how I ended up working so hard this autumn and never being at home...

Regular Heartwork sessions
After a great first session yesterday Mark would like to offer regular Heartwork sessions at the studio every 6 weeks or so, all are welcome. The next two will be Sundays 4th November and 16th December. The course is building from foundations. It costs £20 for the session, and though it nominally runs from 2-5pm, it usually ends after 6, but it's ok if you need to leave early...

Heartwork workshop
There will be a workshop open to all students from 2-5pm, Sunday 23rd September at the studio near Hampton Court, cost £20. Salutations, One Posture, Heartwork interactions and much more will be covered.
