March Workshops in Gothenburg Sweden

T'ai Chi Partnerwork and Push Hands

Introductory Workshops: 1300 - 1600 Saturday March 20th and 1000 - 1300 Sunday March 21st, 2010. ’Nia Movement Center’ Nordostpassagen 55 i LinnĂ©staden.

These two sessions are open to complete beginners with no experience of T'ai Chi (taiji) as well as all T'ai Chi players of any style no matter what level of experience. From first principles, we will explore connection, sinking, turning and relaxing in relation to another person. In a friendly and welcoming environment we will cover sensitivity training such as sticking or 'listening hands' as well as other wonderful partner exercises. On the second day we will look at simplified push hands, yielding, rooting and uprooting. There will also be demonstrations of Ta Lu, Wabu, San Shou and two and four hands pushing hands, as an indication of where our partnerwork can lead.
With softness and non-resistance as well as centred upright posture we learn to engage with the world, and with other people, wholeheartedly - without the need for rigid defences. With correct practice T'ai Chi enhances health and diminishes the effects of stress. After some years' study, T'ai Chi can be an excellent form of self defence and an incomparable martial art. However, those seeking quick results would be advised to attend a specialist self defence class.

You are very welcome to email with any queries regarding the sessions or about suitability: info[at]greatrivertaichi[dot]co[dot]uk . All people over 18 years of age are welcome. There are some concessionary places available for the low-waged. Prices to follow shortly.
