We have had these wonderful hard enamel die-cast brooches / badges made up for the school, to celebrate the 8th Annual intensive. It portrays the Ba Gua, or eight trigrams, which make up the fundamental energies in T'ai Chi. This configuration of the symbols is not the same as would be found in feng-shui objects, however. Instead it shows the 'pre-birth' or 'early Heaven' arrangement, referring to things before manifestation, as opposed to the 'later Heaven' arrangement, which refers to the 'ten thousand things', in other words, things that have already arisen in the world. John Kells' BTCCA had this in its symbol, and I use a blue version for Great River. The brooch is the version David refined for the badge-makers from the logo for The T'ai Chi Centre, which Mark designed by hand many years ago. The badges are beautifully made, about 28mm wide, have a butterfly clasp and were made in the UK by a great company, I will list their details when I get a mo. We are selling them for £5 each and they are only available to students of Mark, or of his students, Great River, Isleworth, or those who used to come but now cannot come due to distance, etc, but still feel 'part of the family'! Let me know if you'd like one sent to you, or get one at class or the workshop. There are only 100 of the brooches in existence...
